Budgie with possible black fungus or tumor
My budgie boy Spud is 7 years old and in about a week (rather quickly) has suddenly sprouted what I can only describe as a tumor with a rough bumpy black growth at the end. It is about the size of a dime and the black part is about half of that growth. It seems like it's not completely flush with his body and may be hanging by a thinner shaft of skin. It's located to the side of his vent and somewhat under his wing. I have tried googling about this and found nothing that could describe what it is. I have raised budgies for 8 years now and have gone thru a few who have passed from tumors so I do know a lot about them but this has me perplexed. I had no idea what it could be until my husband suggested maybe a fungus. Hmm. The feather cysts look awful small compared to this thing. It literally looks like bumpy asphalt on top of a lump with some normal skin underneath. I figure as long as he makes it til Friday we'll find out then. I hope its not something too serious.
